About us

North West Mull Community Woodland Company is the community charity that owns and manages the Isle of Ulva - a small island off the west coast of the Isle of Mull - on behalf of the local community. Since the island came into community ownership in 2018, the charity has been responsible for caring for Ulva’s land, buildings and infrastructure, and for supporting a sustainable future for island life.

Our work ranges from housing and infrastructure projects to heritage, access and community-led development. All funds raised go directly towards caring for Ulva’s community-owned assets and supporting projects that benefit the island now and in the long term.

Why we’re raising money

Our objective
We are raising funds to help secure the future of Ulva Church, an important historic building at the heart of the island. The aim is to protect the building, plan responsibly for its future, and ensure it can once again play a meaningful role in island life.

Who the money is for
All funds raised will support the Ulva Church project, helping the charity carry out essential early-stage work such as professional assessments, the development of a clear plan for repair and reuse, and putting this plan into action.

Why this matters
Ulva Church is a nationally significant, Telford-designed building that has served the island for nearly 200 years. Recent storm damage and long-term deterioration mean it is now closed to the public and at risk of further decline. Acting now is critical if the building is to be safeguarded for future generations.
